Larger Trees
We often find ourselves with a few trees here and there that aren’t necessarily sellable in the season, or are in such small quantities no one wants them (if someone wants 1000 of species X, and we have 20, they wouldn’t want 20 from us and 980 form elsewhere). As a small trial we potted on some Silver Birch (Betula pendula) Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) and Hazel (Corylus avellana)with the hope that they would produce a decent potted tree. If the trial worked we would then do some of the more special trees we have around the place. Well I can now say that it did work! So for now we have some 5 litre pots of the previously mentioned trees, but we will have some more 2 and 3 litre offerings for next year; things like Turkey Oak (Quercus cerris), Red Oak (Quercus rubra), Giant Redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum), Judas Tree (Cercis siliquastrum). There will be more to potted towards the end of the season, there will probably be some Holm Oaks, Hornbeams, English Oaks and more, so get in touch if any of this interests you!
