Who we are

Rymer Trees and Hedging is a tree nursery situated in the heart of East Anglia, which specializes in peat-free, cell-grown UK native trees primarily grown for woodland and hedgerow schemes. We are a small yet dedicated team, working tirelessly to cultivate robust and healthy stock that is ready to be established throughout the UK. Our team is made up of individuals from many different backgrounds, bringing a well-rounded and passionate approach to tree cultivation.

Some trees have been pulled out of the cells they were grown in to show perfectly formed, robust root balls with healthy roots in their peat-free compost.

What we do

Everything at Rymer Trees and Hedging is grown from seed here in Suffolk. We specialise in cell-grown trees but have a small range of bare-root trees. Most of our trees are UK natives, and we have a few non-natives that we have researched and decided should be grown for their positive impact on our ecosystem. We were the first nursery in the UK to be 100% peat-free. Our Plant Healthy and UKISG certifications highlight our dedication to quality, traceability, and sustainability. This makes us a perfect choice for government-supported projects. Our eco-conscious cultivation methods ensure that our trees meet the highest standards, resulting in maximum establishment when planted. This helps increase the canopy cover of the UK, contributing to a more sustainable future.

    Having visited Rymer Trees and Hedging back in March this year, I was impressed with the vigour, quality and size of their cell grown, one year old trees. I took some hazel and alder for my woodland in Wales. The cells were incredibly easy to handle with great root systems and I have been pleased to see how well the young trees are establishing, with no losses since planting in April. RTH is showing that healthy, cell grown trees can be grown successfully in peat free substrate and I have already collected a second order of hazels this autumn.

    I met representatives of Rymer Trees and Hedging on their stand at the Suffolk Show, in Ipswich, last year. I arranged to contact them to order a quantity of Scot’s Pine trees. They supplied me with three hundred trees in January of this year. I have planted them on my farm, Warren Hill Farm, Herringswell. They appear to be doing well. Everyone at RTH has been very helpful and efficient. I plan to use them again and would recommend them to anyone.
