Rory is in his climbing gear in the canopy of a Koelreuteria paniculata. He was collecting seeds to grow in cells in peat free compost.

Rory Hobbs

I began a career in Arboriculture in New Zealand’s South Island following I A Levels. After completing my training, I became a freelance climber and then operations director for a large Arboricultural Approved contractor. It was at this time I began to move fully into Arboricultural consultancy specialising in commercial tree risk management and policy writing. I now operate a successful consultancy practice and can be found working in all parts of the UK.

I decided to involve myself in Rymer Trees and Hedging due to a lack of guaranteed quality, peat-free stock that I could provide for clients. I also have a real zeal for increasing biodiversity of tree stock and love to help clients improve their tree species selection and establishment management.

My favourite species of tree is the often overlooked but critically important Salix alba.
